16 digital transformation projects will receive funding under the second edition of the call for tenders known as Test4Digitalization promoted by Area Science Park as part of the IP4VG Digital Innovation Hub, whereby a grant will be extended for the development of prototypes, demos, proofs of concept (POCs) or pilot initiatives originating from concrete digital transformation needs of businesses.

In this connection, the assessment of 33 applications – submitted by small and medium-sized enterprises in Friuli Venezia Giulia along with national and international ICT provider companies – has been completed. With a total allocation of € 400,000 from FVG Development and Cohesion funds, the call will make it possible to fund 15 projects fully, plus one to a partial extent.

The goal is to support the initial phase of the digitalisation process of businesses, testing it before moving on to large-scale development, if appropriate. The companies to be funded engage mostly in manufacturing (11), culture and creativity (4), and construction (1). All of them have submitted a project to be developed in collaboration with one or more national or international ICT companies.

The funded projects require the use of different technologies: from sensing to advanced automation, simulation, optimisation, AI, process integration, BIM and gaming. For example, Optimens will develop a solution to use AI to “train and keep fit” the brain; CTS H2 will work on an IoT project to manage renewable energy hydrogen plants also with a view to energy communities; Gees Recycling will rely on sensorisation to improve control and sustainability of composite recycling processes; Moondays will implement advanced immersive reality technologies for exhibitions and cultural events.
